Welcome back to SU for the Spring 2014 semester. We’ve been busy at the library upgrading our services while you’ve been away, and we wanted to make sure everyone knows what new technologies are available for SU students, faculty, and staff.
First of all, we have finally expanded our extraordinarily successful iPad checkout program. We now 16 iPads available for checkout, including 4 iPad minis and 4 iPad Airs. Half of our iPads are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and the other half are reservable online here. These go quickly, so check yours out today!
Also new this semester is our PC Availability Maps. Using these maps, you can quickly and easily see how busy the library is and whether or not you’ll be able to find a computer when you come in. You can access these maps from anywhere, and there are maps for most of the computer labs on campus. This is a brand new service, so please let us know if you have any problems or questions.
Finally, our new book scanning station has been up and running since the end of the Fall semester on a trial basis and it has been a huge success! It is used extremely often, and all of the feedback we’ve gotten has been very positive. Because of the feedback we’ve received, we have decided to keep the station permanently! If you haven’t had a chance to try it out yet, head over to the circulation desk the next time you need to scan something and give it a shot. You’ll be amazed at how quick (and even fun!) it is!
We hope you get a lot of use out of these new and exciting technologies, and if you have any questions or comments about them please feel free to let us know. We’ll continue to work hard to make sure the SU community has access to the latest and greatest technologies and resources. Good luck this semester!
